Along the Oregon Coast - May, 2006
Photographs of a May "pre-trip" to scout the Pacific Northwest.
I enjoyed the flight home. The views of Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Hood, the snow covered Sierra Nevada, and the Bay Area kept me looking out the window.

The town of Coos Bay is home to a number of lumber companies.
A heron, hunting for fish, wandered into the reflection of a ship's mast at the harbor.
A very steep and very narrow road out of Oceanside leads to a wonderful and vertiginious viewpoint.
The last light of the sun was reflected in the wet sand.
Local residents I met atop the Column were kind enough to tell me about an eagle nest that I found in a residential area of town.

I climbed the circular staircase, with 164 steps, to the top of the column!
