Oregon Photo Tour/Ken Rockwell Homage - 2012

In the company of three friends, I journeyed north from Los Angeles to Point Reyes National Seashore, north of San Francisco, to preview an upcoming photography tour I'm conducting at the end of August with Christine Krieg. Information is here.

Point Reyes, so near to populated regions of Marin County, offers up a sense of wilderness and history, and in so doing encompasses an enormous variety of potential photograph subjects, which seems evident from the variety of images I made over the course of half a day.

Tech notes: 18-200mm Nikon VR lens used for all photographs except for two of the tule elk.

En Route: The Lost Hills Oil Field
At the Lost Hills - where the landscape is dead flat - are in the San Joaquin Valley, northwest of Bakersfield and east of the Coast Range Mountains - there is a general store and several hundred oil wells, and not much more.
